Leased Line Anti-Virus Protection

Anti-Spam Protection

In a recent study it has been shown that SPAM consumes more than 50% of all internet traffic and has become one of the biggest problems facing the Internet community today. Traditional Anti-Spam products sought to overcome the problem using various methods available to them. Africa Online Namibia uses the automatic black and white list approach to managing Spam. In an effort to allow the customer to choose between what is Spam and what is not, the user may decide whether he or she wants to sign up for this service or not. After having signed up, the principle of choice still reigns supreme, since the user can then decide, based upon the black and white list mechanism, which E-Mails are Spam and which are not.

To sign up, use your Dial-Up username and password and your mailbox will now be protected against Spam. Use the same method to access the Anti-Spam interface. Having signed up, you must continually visit this website so as to build your own black and white lists. Until such time that you have built your own lists, all mail will be held by the software until either you or the sender makes a choice. Please make sure that you do this as often as you like during the day as this has been a source of some problems for certain customers in the past.

Circuit Availability and Monitoring Statistics

An additional value added service to our leased-line packages are the availability of monitoring and graphing statistics for all leased lines services. In order for the customer to be able to make an informed decision, he or she needs access to accurate statistics concerning the various elements of their business. Our graphing and monitoring facilities provide accurate information regarding the hourly usage of your leased line service. Since we are continually striving to better our services we are currently in the process of allowing individual access to these statistics, but if you are in need of immediate access to this information, contact our Customer Service Helpdesk who will be glad to assist you.

Free Domain Registration

A domain name is one of the first steps to promoting your business on the Internet and Africa Online offers this service free of charge to our leased-line customers who are not currently in possession of a domain name. We will also maintain and update this domain name, thereby saving you cost and additional administration.

Free Web Hosting

Africa Online Namibia provides every leased line customer with at least 50 megabytes of free Web space. All you need to do to get your Web page online is an already registered domain name. We will provide you with a username and password to access the Web page either via FTP or Microsoft FrontPage. You can use either of these two methods to upload and update your site.

Roaming Services

The Africa Online Roaming Service allows our dial-up customers in Namibia to connect to the Internet from almost any country in the world using their local Africa Online email address. To do this, our customer would need to login to the roaming software installed on their computer free of charge by Africa Online, select the country he or she is in, and then choose a roaming member ISP from the list and connect. It's that easy! The advantages of using the roaming service is that there is no change of email address as you travel, it saves our customer on telephone costs as you access through a local number, and support is available locally in the country that our customer is in. This means that you can call a roaming member ISP that you use to connecting for support in case of any difficulties.

Customer Self Care Utility

A password is a personalized thing and at Africa Online we believe that security is important to customers such that our staff do not even know the customer's password. We have therefore put in place a method of you changing your password as you wish without having to contact us. This, you are encouraged to do as this will make your emails secure. Dial-up customers are able to change their passwords, view their usage, and see their invoices, from their home or office using a Web based self care utility tool. While business customers can add and remove users from their end through their system admin or IT personnel that have been given access to use that tool.
